About Marvin
31 years old, Male
I began working initially as an actor, and playwright-director of sorts, with Mount D'or Cultural Performers: a community performing company in my village. My interest in the stage and desire for training lead me to the steps of the Centre for Creative and Festival Arts, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine – an institution with which I have a long and loyal relationship. Experiences there opened up opportunities for work with a number of celebrated Caribbean directors including Rawle Gibbons, Rhoma Spencer, Tony Hall, Louis Mc Williams, Efebo Wilkinson, and Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott. Later, under Dani Lyndersay’s direction, I served in various capacities with Arts-in-Action, the Centre’s educational theatre, outreach unit – from actor-teacher to business development to administrative director – before completing a BA (Hons.) in Theatre Arts. In 2006 I received a Commonwealth Scholarship to read for the MA in Theatre and Development Studies at the University of Leeds.
